Happy Birthday Mr Men and Little Miss!

It was forty years ago that the very first Mr Men character, Mr Tickle was created, with Mr Bump, Little Miss Sunshine, Mr Messy and other characters joining him in one of the most recognisable character book series in the world.
It all started in 1971 when Roger Hargreaves' six year old son posed the simple question, "Daddy what does a tickle look like?", to his father. In response, Rodger an ad executive and aspiring cartoonist drew a little orange man with a big toothy grin, blue hat and extraordinarily long arms. And so the first of the Mr Men characters was born!
